Shigeharu gets beaned by a wild pitch in a baseball game and later dies from his injuries. Goro, now alone, is adopted by his schoolteacher who raises him on her own. The story consists of Goro growing up to play baseball at the little league level.
In typical shounen fashion, Goro has to learn how to play on a team and be a good sportsman. And as the story progresses, Goro comes across players on other teams who have to overcome these issues as well. That being said, Major is an excellent show. Even though it's meant for children it can evoke strong emotions if you let it. It's very easy to empathize to Goro in his friends as they grow up.
If you like shounen sports anime, or if you just like baseball, then I highly recommend the first season of Major.
On a wholly different subject, if when people actually start reading these posts, feel free to leave comments. Let me know what you think or if I totally suck at writing.
